Goodness Of A Diner

"A friendly look, a kindly smile, one good act, and life's worthwhile." - Author Unknown

One morning I was coming home from a doctors visit and decided to stop for a little breakfast. I had not eaten much over the past two days due to being ill with a stomach virus.

As I sat reading the paper there were stories were of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City which resonated through out America. In reading the stories, I was reminded that my stomach virus was a minor thing in the bigger scheme of life. I knew so because there were stories of bravery, courage and of shear sadness for those lost in the three acts of violence.

As human beings, we can be pretty resilient and hopefully learn from history. Also, the sadness from those events can be overwhelming. So sitting in one of my comfortable eating establishment helped soothe the sadness.

This may sound like an advertisement but the Waffle House is a place which can always bring a smile to your face. It is one of those thousands of places that is good about America and its people. Being around and seeing other friendly people, it is a nice and very pleasing place. To be around other people is something each of us can use. It embodies what is good about human beings in a a certain sense.

The terror of 9/11 or any such similar violence is not the normal, it is not what most people are made of. Goodness does exist through out most societies. In all of my travelling around the world, people are simply getting up, getting dressed, going to work, trying to provide for their families and getting as much out of life as they can.

In other words, we are all very similar regardless of where we live on this wonderful planet.

Taking down the World Trade Center, a plane in Pennsylvania or targeting of the Pentagon are horrific events. What remains is the goodness of our human spirit. The Waffle House type of diners around the world, where people meet, share a meal and a smile reflect that goodness.

Remember those that have been a victim to the terrors of life, but be strengthened by our collective goodness.

Stay inspired my friends!
