Summer Reads

"A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down, and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting."
-Henry David Thoreau

Summer is (in my mind) essentially here and there will be plans for vacations and other get away events. During this time, reading is normally a big part or should be on your list of things to do. But what to read is the question.

Why not try reading a book written by Andy Andrews called The Noticer. Once again, Andy gives us new perspective on living life.

There are others such as Cup 'O Jo, written by Joseph Kerr. All of us know there are great ways to start our morning and this book gives us a new and different way to start each morning, a fresh cup of coffee for the soul.

There are several other books that might interest you from Dr. David Spell, such as Street Cop, and Street Cop II: Reloaded. His newest eBook is called "Leading into the 21st Century and Beyond" which is a short read but full of great advice. You can also check out his blog at davidspell.com.

Other blogs of interest to keep your life and your business moving forward, check out the following sites;

Michael Hyatt’s blog is one of the most widely read leadership blogs on the internet.

C3 Journey Warrior's blog or better known as the Warrior’s Blog, caters primarily to men but the ladies will benefit as well. A friend named Jim Crumbley and his team write about personal development, relationships, and overcoming obstacles.

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading is a place where you will find remarkable discussions, ideas and new ways of thinking about many different subjects.

Finally, I would not want to end without promoting myself.

If you are reading this blog article, then you have found your way to Primms Attitude or primmsplace.blogspot.com. Here I write articles to help you lift the BAR in your life, motivating, encouraging and inspiring you to your best life.

Additionally I have written books such as "Changed Lives", "Live the Journey" and "Love Is" that will stir your soul to greater achievement. These books and others can be found on Amazon at Amazon: Joseph Primm

There are a lot of great writers out there and the list above is woefully incomplete. But I encourage you to read, read, read. Keep reading and expand yourself. Keep reading to lift your life. And stay inspired my friends.

Read a Book

"Books open your mind, broaden your mind, and strengthen you as nothing else can." -William Feather

Have you ever considered one place where you can go to visit all of the world? One place where you can visit the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, and Taj Mahal all in one day. Or maybe have the ability to see what games children in an English school yard play and than check out the tessellated pavement along the shores of Tasmania.

Opening up your world

We marvel each day at what technology has brought to us. Many would say that the internet has brought the world to them. Instantly you can visit each of those places on you home computer or even on your smart phone. In the blink of an eye, you can find out just how far the Leaning Tower of Pisa actually leans to one side.

All of this technology has the ability to let you search and find a much bigger world. Your backyard has literally become not just the rest of the world but an entire universe. But you have had this ability to transport yourself for a very long time.

Where the world gathers

As far back as 2600 BC, clay tablets written in script have been discovered. These tablets discovered in Sumer (Mesopatamia or modern day Iraq) are like markers of the end of prehistory and the start of history. Books have been around in various forms for thousands of years.

What could be called libraries (private collections actually) have been found in northern Syria. Additionally, there is evidence of libraries dating back to about 1900 BC in Nippur and also in Nineveh about 700 BC. Books, manuscripts, stories and tales of places beyond our current place and time, gathered for all to read.

You also have your own public library that has been around for many years. In the United States, we have many public libraries in which you can go into freely and visit where the entire world gathers.

You can even check out these books and bring the world to your home. The world is quite literally at your finger tips. No computers, no WiFi, no smartphones; simply numbered pages with wondrous words printed on each page. To read each word, turn each page and allow your mind to dream of actually visiting the places upon the pages.

Read and be transported

So many of us dream and wonder of what we can be, where we can go or how we can do more in life. A book can help you begin the process of turning dreams into reality. When you visit a library, you start movement in your life. It is a physical act that sends you one place to another.

You open a book and see your dreams begin to unfold upon the pages. The words bring a reality to the possibility you have been envisioning. You can certainly do this with a computer but feeling the pages of a book does something else.

The fibers of the worn pages create a sensation in the finger tips. It begins a transference from the author to the reader. The thoughts and feelings of the writer are dormant upon the typed pages. But when you touch and turn those pages, life springs forth from the words. You become a part of the story and it transports you to another place.

Dream, but than act

As you read the pages of a good book, it causes your dreams to become more vivid. You probably will daydream of what you are reading. It is likely you will have visions of your own life coming out of the pages.

Dream all you want but more importantly, act upon the dreams. Start movement to visit the places you have read about. Start movement to create the life you have read about and wanted to have.

Do not just dream of yourself being that person coming out of the words on a page. Work to become that person in reality, take hold of your life and experience it. Bring the words to life by acting upon what you want in life.

A great life is not merely the words in a book. A great life is your life and the words of a book are meant to inspire. They are meant to push you to action in your own life.

So read a book, read a lot of books, but also turn the words into your best life. Stay inspired my friends.

Sufficient Love

"Love possesses not nor will it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love." -Khalil Gibran

A bit light on articles this week although I plan on posting a couple of favorites from the past. I am taking this week to clear up a few things at work and then spend the rest with family on a short vacation.

The picture and quote shown above are a little hint of what my next book will be. I'm still a ways off but plan to have it ready for Christmas gift giving. As the time draws closer, I will give you more bits and pieces.

Until then, the books I have out there already could always use another reader. I am also working on getting them into eBook format which will make the whole idea of becoming an avid reader of mine easier.

All I ask is that you keep reading, keep dreaming, but more importantly keep moving forward.

Christmas Gifts

"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy." ~Edward P. Morgan

Tis the season to be jolly. A season when each of us can stop and ponder what is important in our lives. Whether it be the religious observances or simple celebrations, it affords us a time to gather with those we love.

It also gives us an opportunity to do something good for another person. There are many ways to do this and it doesn't have to be a large expensive effort. Small things can impact people in large ways.

Today, I'm promoting my books which are meant to inspire and motivate others. They give each of us hope and encouragement to do greater things in our lives. You can purchase through LULU.COM or search the Internet.

CHANGED LIVES and ATTITUDE IN WORDS are books that I wrote in order to provide a bit of inspiration. A way to show others that there is a path to a greater life, to change your circumstance and move forward.

Now there is the question I get asked, what happens to the money I make? Any money I make goes to different charities. Recipients such as Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, my church The C3 Church and other various organizations that do great things for both individuals and communities.

Heck, if I were getting rich on this there would be publishing companies knocking on my door (they are not, but eventually they will) and Oprah would have me listed in her book club (she has not, but I'm waiting for their phone call).

So get online and order a book to give someone for Christmas. Maybe buy it for yourself. And then drop me an email at josephprimm@bellsouth.net and tell me what changes you have made in life. Give me your story or the story of someone you know that either lifts someone or was lifted them self.

If I get enough of these stories, I will have another book with your story available for sharing next Christmas. Tis the season to be jolly. Spread the joy with others and see it impact your own life.
