Your Windmill Effect

"Your spirit is like the wind; you can not see it but you can see where it has been." -Unknown

So many people have so many different characteristics and ways about them. There are the funny, always have a joke for you type of people. There are the serious and very business kind that march in a very definite manner. We even know some of the downtrodden, "woe is me" people in life that only the bad things in life happen to them. The opposite exist as well, the ever upbeat person that never lets anything bother them type of person.

Whatever type you are, each of us has a spirit about us that can not be seen.

It is the "something" about us that others have felt after an encounter. Think of the last time you spent around one of these types of people. Did you feel "downtrodden" or "upbeat" after the encounter? Maybe you came away with needing to be more serious about life or maybe not so seriously?

But we will be impacted by everything that happens around us.

The spirit or nature of another person will have touched us and left its mark in our life. How you conduct your life, how you express yourself; your spirit will come through and leave its mark as well upon others. While it is said that only you can determine your own attitude, which is true. You can be influenced by others and their attitudes.

You can also influence others with your attitude...with your spirit.

Think about what your true spirit is and look behind to see what is left in your wake. Same as the wind blows through a windmill, we do not see the wind. What we do see is the effect it had upon the windmill. Our spirit will go unseen, but how it affects others can be seen. Understand what your spirit is and have a positive effect upon others.

Stay inspired my friends!

Amazing You

"You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body." -C. S. Lewis

There is a wonderful National Geographic documentary regarding the human body. The shows takes you on a tour of what is both simple in elegance yet intricate in how it is achieved. Our body is quite amazing in how we are put together and operate.

Watching this show made me think of the resilience our body has to fight off infection, repair bones and recreate. The complexity of how we collect data (senses) and process it lightening quick can boggle the mind. And the mind itself is a wonder.

We take care of our bodies in order to keep it running well and as error free as we can. The body certainly has biological mechanisms inside that cause it to take care of itself. But the soul we have also wants to keep the body healthy and moving.

It is said that our bodies have a soul inside which provides guidance. I am of the belief that the soul has a body which gives it the ability to do great things. The word 'soul' was derived from the Greek word ψυχή, pronounced IPA. It is a verb "to cool, to blow" and would refer to the vital breath our bodies need.

I am not smart enough to debate the whole body, soul and spirit question. It is just a matter for us to consider all three of them. All have purpose and all three need to be taken care of. Our spirit gives purpose to the soul which in turn gives purpose to the body.

While our physical body ages, it takes more care and effort to keep it in good shape. Our soul gives us reason to do so but the soul needs to be refreshed and kept alive as well. And in the grand scheme of these things, never forget that you are an amazing person.

Maybe the subject is a little too deep for thought at this moment, but just know that you can do amazing things. Your body will keep doing its thing which will give your soul time to accomplish even greater things. Yes, you are amazing.

Remembering Love Lost

Gone - flitted away,
Taken the stars from the night and the sun
From the day!
Gone, and a cloud in my heart.

~Alfred Tennyson

Your life is filled with people that you have grown so accustomed to being around, that when they leave we suddenly realize just how much we are bonded to them. Our lives can become so intertwined with another, that we fail to see just how close the bond is until they are gone.

Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle
Everything I do is stitched with its color.

~W.S. Merwin

We find ourselves trying to regain the image of these people, a loved one or maybe a friend that has slipped from our sight. We try to pull our dreams at night out into the gathering light of day. To experience their presence once again hopefully.

Thou art gone from my gaze like a beautiful dream.
And I seek thee in vain by the meadow and stream.

~George Linley

With each passing day, we look for anything that will remind us of that missing piece of us. Is it the green leaves of a tree rustling in the wind, a child laughing as she skips down the road or the circus noise from high upon a Ferris wheel; where can we capture that moment again?

Oft in the tranquil hour of night,
When stars illume the sky,
I gaze upon each orb of light,
And wish that thou wert by
.
~George Linley

As we gaze upon the stars or look to shapes within the clouds, we each will find that reminder of ones gone before us. It might be a star in the sky, the floating cloud formations above us or the gentle trickle of a stream.

"Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will."
~Author Unknown

It will become easier as our memory grows deeper with the spirit of a loved one. We experience that in a much different way and grow closer to them by keeping them within our hearts.
