Field Of Flowers - Not Weeds

"Dwelling on the negative simply contributes to its power." - Shirley MacLaine

All of us have asked in conversation how someone is doing. The answer you get in return many times becomes a litany of all the troubles that particular person is experiencing. You listen intently and offer words of advice or consolation. Eventually you begin to feel a bit down yourself.

Negativity in conversation can pull you into a depressing mood.

The feeling of a great day you were having begins to fade away.

It can be eye opening to know how powerful negative thoughts have upon you and the people it surrounds. It feeds upon itself and grows stronger the more you embrace the negative. And strangely, people will believe more in the strength of negativity then in the power of being positive. Being negative is a much easier road to take.

Being positive is like watching a slow developing flower.

Life gains strength the more you nurture a positive attitude.

Negative attitudes are like quick growing weeds, taking over a field in rapid advancement. Great attitudes have to be tended to and the weeds of negativity pulled away. Eventually, you find great things in your life which outweigh any of the bad. Walking through a field of flowers and not weeds is a better life to live.

Sound Of Your Laughter

The Sound Of Your Laughter - Poem by Ronberge

The sound of your laughter
Is what pulls me through
The harshest winter

The sound of your laughter
Makes every bright summer day
Brighter

The sound of your laughter
Is what gets me up in the morning
With it
I can take anything life can bring

Not to make too much out of it
But to me
Everyday Is a good day To live
To The sound of your laughter

Adjusting Your Happiness

Groucho Marx once said, "I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."

Simply put, people do not like to hang out with unhappy people.

Sometimes it requires a bit of hard truth in order to get people to see the reality of a situation. Your productivity at work is impacted by being unhappy and it impacts those around you. If you are unhappy with your job and the daily grind of it, move on to something else.

Make a change in your life.

I am not here to say you should simply quit and walk out the door with a smile on your face. No, the smart thing to do is continue to do your job the best you can, but start looking for a new job.

Life's steps should be planned as best you can.

Take time to understand and recognize how your own attitude is impacting you and your relationships. Understand how being unhappy all of the time is impacting your job performance and then do something about it.

Maybe it requires an adjustment of your attitude.

Examine yourself, adjust yourself and reinvent yourself to rid the unhappiness from your life as you can. It starts from inside.

You Silly Goose

Do a loony-goony dance 'cross the kitchen floor, put something silly in the world that ain't been there before.
Shel Silverstein, A Light in the Attic

There are days when we simply need to be just a little bit silly. What could you do to liven up the day and those around you? Well, for your summer amusement, the following ideas were passed along to me.

1. Sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars.
....See if they slow down.

2. Page yourself over the intercom.
.....Don't disguise your voice!

3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
.....And then ask them again.

4. Finish all your sentences with 'In Accordance With The Prophecy.'
.....Be sure to look reverent.

5. Skip down the hall rather than walk and see how many looks you get.
.....humming "To My Lou, my darling."

6. Order a diet water whenever you go out to eat.
.....With a serious face of course.

7. Specify that your drive-through order is 'To Go.'
.....Maybe it will get served on a tray!

8. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
.....Bug zapper noise only enhances the experience.

9. Tell your children over dinner, 'Due To The Economy, We Are Going To Have To Let One Of You Go.'

It is called having fun. Some may call it therapy but I chose the former.

Take time to smile and relax.
