Veteran's Day

...It is a proud privilege to be a soldier – a good soldier … [with] discipline, self-respect, pride in his unit and his country, a high sense of duty and obligation to comrades and to his superiors, and a self confidence born of demonstrated ability.” ―George S. Patton Jr.

To all who have served, are serving and sacrificed for our nation. Whether it be Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and in every branch of military service.

Thank You!

I thank my son, Staff Sgt Daniel Primm.

I thank my brothers, Jerry (Navy) and John (Army).

I thank my grand father, Lawrence Primm (Navy).

I thank my other grand father, Ralph Gale (Army).

I thank my father-in-law, Paul Schmidt (WW-II veteran, 34th Division, 168th).

I thank my brother-in-laws, Roy Carter (Navy) and Joe Schmidt (Navy).

I honor all of my relatives and friends that have served.

Honor those today with a simple thank you for placing your life and protection above their own. And stay inspired my friends.

Economics of Life

"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of." -Jim Rohn

With all of the economic troubles piled on top of so many other issues, it will be easy for many people to give up. There will be a lot of folks that take the problems as the source of all their pain. They will say that, 'if only the economy were better; if only my job paid more; if only, if only."

It is a lot to deal with and your ability to fight through it is magnified. But as my friend, Dean Sweetman states, "let us make this the year of the non-victim." Meaning that in spite of all obstacles, don't let yourself become a victim to the circumstances. Take responsibility for your own actions during troubled times and rise above complaint.

The baby boom generation and those generations since, are far removed from the depression era folks. A time when much hardship fell upon people, yet they struggled through. Each took responsibility upon themselves as opposed to waiting for others to act on their behalf.

Yes, certainly there were those standing idly by waiting for a hand out and believing that it was someone else that needed to lift them up. But what was true back in the 1930s is true today; you are responsible for you.

The government will do what it believes right in helping so many people in need. There will be charitable organizations that try as best they can to lift up those most in need. In the end though, it will take you rising above complaint by ridding your victim mentality. Only then will you lift your life to something better.

The economy of the United States and of many countries around the world are troubled. As an individual, that much is out of your control. But you do have control of your life and what you can do. So much of our success depends upon your attitude and by how well you get through your circumstances in life.

Know that much of it is out of your control on a macro-level. But you do have control of your life and your ability to change it. Be a 'non-victim' this year and see your world transformed.

Is It Christmas Yet?

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why." -Eddie Cantor

If you are interested, there is a website to answer the question, "Is it Christmas" yet?

Though you probably wouldn't know that several other holidays occur prior to it, including;

  • Calan Gaeaf is the first day of winter in Wales on November 1.
  • All Saints Day is also celebrated on November 1.
  • Guy Fawkes Night is celebrated in the UK commemorating the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.
  • Armistice Day is a remembrance holiday in the UK.
  • Nativity Fast or the forty days before Christmas, St Philip's fast, Christmas fast, or winter lent or fast.
  • Thanksgiving in the U.S. or better known as "Only 30 more days of Christmas shopping" occurs on the fourth Thursday in November.

Christmas is the big one for sure but there is plenty of life that occurs between now and then. It is not strictly a time for shopping, but a time for preparing, a time for connecting with others and a time for experiencing life.

Do not let the time slip by with a blur. Enjoy the moments of "being" with other people. Christmas will come soon enough.

Stay Out of the Weeds

"Every great work, every great accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement comes apparent failure and discouragement." - Florence Scovel Shinn

Out in the distance we have set in our mind a vision of what we want to accomplish in life. Some type of achievement or goal that weighs upon our hearts and minds. You can not necessarily see it with the natural eye, but you know it is out there.

So you set out on the path, fixated on what lay straight ahead of you.

The path is at first flat and spread wide in front of you.

Sure, you may encounter a few bumps and obstacles but you remain focused. The journey will and does become frustrating. The temptation arises in you to stray off the path in attempt to find an easy way around those obstacles. But doing so, you lose sight and end up out in the weeds, in a place where you never intended to be.

The path becomes lost, time is lost, experience lost, and vision of the goal is lost as you try to find your way back. You struggle even more to find your way back onto the path towards your dream.

Maybe those obstacles on your path are there for a reason.

Maybe they are there to let you learn and adjust your vision.

If the path were easy, everyone would be standing within reach at this very moment. Staying on the path is never easy and the terrain can become quite difficult. As you climb over and through, your vision will come into focus even more. The vision will become more focused as you overcome those things that stand in your way. The vision will still be there, firmly in front of you, waiting to be achieved.

Keep your vision in sight and stay upon your path. Overcome the obstacles and do not get lost in the weeds, far from the sight of your goals. Achieve what you seek.
